It’s great when endless lobbying by the fire protection industry, and in particular the fire sprinkler industry, comes to something. Both Wales and Scotland are streets ahead in terms of fire safety in buildings…and maybe England still has a way to go.
In July, the Scottish government published stricter fire safety provisions for high-rise and buildings for the vulnerable which come into force from October. Key amendments cover fire performance of external cladding in high-rise buildings; provision for means of escape, evacuation alert and signage in high-rise domestic buildings.
