Sprinkler Tank Immersion Heater

Sprinkler Tank Immersion Heater

Used in water tanks that are externally-located, or where they otherwise may be subject to freezing, the purpose of a sprinkler tank immersion heater is to prevent a full layer of ice forming on top of the water. If a sprinkler tank ices over, the layer can create a vacuum between it and the water, which in turn can prevent or reduce the ability of the fire pumps to deliver water to the sprinklers; in addition, ice on the float valve will prevent it from working properly.

Thus product has been designed and developed by one of our industry partners, the founder of which has a long history in the fire sprinkler business and has developed a good understanding of the issues faced by field installers and the clients – using this knowledge to harness technology to develop better products is a part of their ethos.

What’s new?

Most immersion heaters in use currently are 3kw: they are much more powerful then they need to be, costing significantly more than necessary, and also have a tendency to overheat which shortens their life as well as creating new hazards. Our partner has worked closely with companies in the industry to solve these and other problems – resulting in a product which is highly cost-efficient and eliminates these problems and risks. In addition, further features have been added.

Key features:

  • Compliance with LPS 1276, BS 7798, IET and BS 7671.
  • Dual element type, as required by LPS 1276.
  • Stainless steel tank tube, allows for maintenance and repair of elements without draining the tank.
  • Fitting for standard 2¼” tank bush.
  • IP-rated enclosure.
  • Designed and made in the UK.

Benefits over most existing models:

  • Significant energy-saving – 90W compared to usually 3,000W – an annual energy cost saving of almost £3,000 (estimate 3,400 hours at 29p) – fast payback.
  • Significant cost saving, based on extended product life cycle as well as energy costs.
  • Auto self-monitoring (on rear of enclosure).
  • Visual and audible alarm/status indicators. Fault monitoring for heating elements, temperature probes and float valve.
  • Free electrical terminal connection tool.
  • Packaging 100% recycle (no plastics).
  • Installation video available through QR code.
  • Troubleshooting video available through QR code.
  • 2-year warranty as standard.

Additional options:

  • Custom engraving/branding on face/lid of enclosure.
  • Float switch to isolate heater in the event of low water.
  • 5m external temperature probe.
  • Multi-temperature sensing (internal, external, tube).
  • Tank boss.
  • Remote monitoring (coming soon).
