Jockey Pump

Guy Parker

A jockey pump is a part of a firesprinkler system and is a small pump that maintains the pressure in a fire protection piping system to an artificially high level. When a single fire sprinkler operates, a pressure drop occurs and this is sensed by the fire pump controller, causing the fire pump to start. Hence the jockey pump is a portion of the fire pump’s overall control system.
