As part of SEP’s dedication to helping customer get the best out of their equipment, we have teamed up with local company Peak Fire Training Services and will soon be launching a new training course dedicated to Dry Risers – we know that there are limited courses available in the UK, and we are asked regularly about this, so we think (1) it’s definitely necessary, and (2) it’s going to be pretty popular!

The one-day training course we are developing with our dry riser experts, Peak Fire Training Services, will cover the following topics at our premises in Stockport:

  • Introducing dry risers, their purpose, and main components
  • A review of the UK standard BS9990
  • The importance of the inspection, testing and maintenance of risers and components (cabinets, valves, fittings, signage etc), and the consequences of poor installations
  • Case studies of good and bad examples of design, installation, and maintenance
  • A hands-on discovery walk-through of our custom dry riser mock-up system
  • Review of visual inspection and annual pressure-testing methods, inspection documentation, and service records; what to do if things aren’t as they should be
  • Carrying out an actual pressure test and drain, using our mock-up riser
  • Plenty of opportunity for Q&A

The training day will include refreshments and lunch, AND will be accredited by an industry partner (to be announced shortly) to enable all attendees to earn a ‘Certificate in Dry Riser Maintenance’. As the course will be fully accredited for CPD, there will be a charge in line with similar training days, although not all are based on real-life experience, use full mock-ups, and we will also be limiting attendance to 8-10 in order that every attendee has the full opportunity to ‘look and feel’ the kit and ask any questions.

We expect to be in a position to commence the courses from summer, and in order to better plan our dates, we would ask all interested parties to register their interest by Emailing Us. As we say, we think this is going to be in high demand, so will be offering places on a first-come-first-served basis.
